Rudy Makes The Final Cut For USA National Team

As expected Memphis Grizzlies Forward Rudy Gay makes the final cut for the United States National Basketball Team which is set to begin pool play in the FIBA World Championship Tournament on August 28. The team was trimmed down to the final 12 players earlier today as they prepared for their final exhibition game in Spain against Greece. Boston Celtics All Star guard Rajon Rondo made the selection committees job a little easier as he volunteered to withdraw his name from contention. Though Rondo citied “family issues and other responsibilities he needed to deal with prior to the NBA season” many believe that Rondo’s game did not fit the International playing style which requires top performing guards to be able to consistently shoot the ball from the perimeter. Though Rondo is a stellar all around player, shooting is not a strong point of his game. Following Rondo’s departure the below listed players made up the final 12.

– Chauncey Billups (Denver Nuggets)

– Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers)

– Stephan Curry (Golden State Warriors)

– Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)

– Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies)

– Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder)

– Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves)

– Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers)

– Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder)

– Tyson Chandler (Dallas Mavericks)

– Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers)
