Houston Nutt Visits The Dan Patrick Show To Talk About Jeremiah Massoli

To classify Ole Miss Head football Coach Houston Nutt as disappointed that the NCAA has ruled his new transfer quarterback Jeremiah Massoli ineligible for the 2010 football season would be a great understatement. Things were looking up for the Rebels since reports surfaced that Massoli was planning to come to Oxford, MS after he was given the boot from the team at Oregon following his 2nd run in with the law since being in Oregon.

Massoli would have been an instant improvement to their quarterback depth chart which also featured sophomore Nathan Stanley and Junior Randall Mackey. Many believe that if Massoli was still at Oregon for the 2010 season that he would have been a early season Heisman frontrunner.

Prior to the ruling coming down from the NCAA everything was expected to go through with the transfer as they followed all the bylaws in regards to his eligibility to transfer without penalty. Massoli had graduated from the University of Oregon, found a graduate program not offered at Oregon that was at Mississippi, enrolled in school, and filed the proper paperwork. Unfortunately those in power saw things differently, ruling that Massoli would be ineligible for the upcoming season because he was transferring to the University of Mississippi for football reasons and not academics, which the guidelines do not allow.

On Wednesday morning Coach Nutt made a visit to the Dan Patrick Show to talk about the situation and how he was feeling about it. Click here to listen to audio of Coach Nutt’s interview.
