Vick-Tory: Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid Names Mike Vick Starting Quarterback

Forget the story I just spent 30 minutes writing on Mike Vick being okay with not being the starter in Philadelphia. Head Coach Andy Reid just announced minutes ago that Vick will be the Eagles starter from here on. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that this has absolutely nothing to do with the health of Kevin Kolb, as he has passed all the required test to be cleared to play in the NFL. “This was strictly a performance based decision by the Eagles coaching staff.” “After reviewing the game film, Vick gives them the best chance to win games.”

What a DOG HOUSE (pun intended) to PENT HOUSE story this has the opportunity to be. A little over a year ago Mike Vick had no team after being released from Federal Prison, he was being protested by all animal loving groups as he was trying to convince teams to give him a chance, and many experts and fans alike wondered if he still had it. With all that behind him, Vick is now in his 2nd year with the Philadelphia Eagles, since the departure of long time Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, Vick was upgraded to #2 on the depth chart, and with Kevin Kolb suffering from a concussion in week #1 Vick got an opportunity to start which he took full advantage of against the Lions going for 248 yards passing and 2 TDs in the win. Which brings us to this point, where he has been named the Eagles starter from this point on.

Amazing story and hopefully for Vick’s sake, it only gets better . . . . . . . . . . . . . Until then, ENJOY

Pretty weird I know, a Head Coach (Pro or College) keeps his word, not back tracking following something unexpected. After we all witnessed Eagles back up quarterback Mike Vick tear apart the NFC North defenses of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions over the last two weeks when starter Kevin Kolb went out of the game with concussion symptoms. Many believed Vick would be named the starter even once Kolb was okayed to play. WRONG. Following the Eagles 27 – 20 loss to Green Bay in week 1 where Vick went for 175 yards passing, 103 yards rushing, and 1 TD  in 2.5 quarters of play, Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid vowed to stick with Kolb under center. As week 2 approached Kolb still wasn’t recovered and Vick got the start against the Lions, going for 248 yards passing and 2 TDs in the win, but once again Reid reiterated that Kolb would be the starter upon his return, which shall happen this weekend.

Uhhhhhhh Ohhhhhhh we have a problem now? Mike Vick is gonna go on a tirade, expressing his right to start following 2 stellar games, right? WRONG AGAIN. In an interview, Monday morning, with ESPN’s Hannah Storm, Vick says

  1. Ive been reading your blog site for awhile plus it not really occurred to me to comment. Which is entirely ironic, since Ive spent lots of time over the past month or two studying what must be done to produce people inquire into my own website. Just after reading a number of your site content I suppose its controversial topics that stir peoples emotions to the point where they cant just overlook it.
