Memphis' Sports Station

and Your 2011 NBA All Star Starters Are . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Since the 2010 – 2011 season tipped off on October 26 in Boston, NBA players have been campaigning to gain the favor of the fans and All Star selection committee, hoping to have the honor of participating in this years NBA All Star festivities. Some like Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose have taken the nonchalant approach, simply allowing his game to do the talking as he looks for his 2nd go at the All Star game.

This year, Rose, the former #1 draft pick and University of Memphis star, is 7th in scoring and 10th in assist in comparison to all NBA players, and when put up against other point guards Derrick is 3rd in rebounding and 1st in blocked shots. Others like Grizzlies star forward Rudy Gay have not only taken the on court approach to trying to get in the annual celebration as he leads our Grizz in points, steals, and highlight plays but he has also used the world of social media to promote a video campaign in hopes to gain one of the 15 West All Star spots.

Unfortunately for Rudy there is such a log jam in the West of great talent at the guard and forward positions that it looks like he will be left off the finalized roster this season, but as veteran stars age and more people get familiar with the small market franchise in Memphis, Tennessee Gay will eventually get his chance to be called a NBA All Star. Those who did make it (check the complete list of starters below) will square off against each other Sunday February 20th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The 60th game of its kind will air on TNT starting at 6:00PM CST.
